The REAL question is: who makes the belts for Yamaha?

My guess would be Gates, but that is only a guess...

the really REAL question would be who can make a belt per yamaha specs, perform to yamaha standards and live and last like yamaha would want them to so yamaha can feel confident in putting their name on it? i guess carlisle. carlisle will also offer an "equivalent" belt for more $ under their own name or a subsidiary. these belts work great for certain applications, but i dont think they are built for the long or hard haul. for jay-s above, around $58 for the 8DN from your local dealer.

I fell and hit my head last winter and bought a polaris IQ, the belts are $178.00!!! thank god I got rid of it, my yamaha belts are $47.00 + shipping at yamaha sports plaza in OR.

yammi belt

Try the dayco ultimax belts. about 65 bucks or so. They are made of a little softer compound and are a tad longer.
With the belt a bit longer you can adjust belt deflection on the secondary and get the belt to ride up father and into a lower ratio. And being softer they dont slip as much.
The oem belts are harder compound, so they last longer, but slip like crazy and you lose performance. I will never use oem yamaha belts again.
Something to consider.

Mitsuboshi (not mitsubishi) makes the Yamaha belts.
Ya and oem belts. They are hard and you need a proper clutch set up to make the cluctches grip them
