Finally got another Yamaha in the stable, picked up a 79 ET 340.

I currently have two parts sleds, a 82 and 91? SRV 540, along with one potent 540 motor, that has been ported polished with wisecos. Long story short been wanting an ET platform to put the motor in for quite some time.

Anyone done this?

Not that I'm aware of. I did measure up an Exciter 440 for an SRV transplant once and decided to scrap the idea as it just wasn't going to fit in a way that would suit me and an ET has even less room. The SRV engine is much taller and the axial fan needs more room to say nothing about pipe fitment and completely different mounting systems for the two engines. In an EX to get the crank positioned right so you could keep clutch distance/offset right and the primary wasn't so low it would hit the frame the spark plugs would be sticking out of the roof. The ET has even less headroom under the hood than an EX so you will likely need to cut the hood. The ET also has a light duty chaincase with no jackshaft, very small drivers on a square shaft, (hex on the others) and a secondary that is almost untunable in comparison to a jackshaft style secondary. ET's are great sleds and I love to rip them around but they would not be on my list for a transplant of this type.

An Ovation would be a perfect candidate for what you are trying to do.

Hmm ever since i saw the late 70s SRX 440 with the Viper triple in it this has gotten my attention. Ill look into it a bit further before i tear the ET apart thanks for the heads up tho ill have to look at those problem areas a bit closer.

For what it's worth... someone on here commented on sliding a PHAZER 485 motor into an old ET340 body (I know your thinking SRV 540 from the parts you have). I have a 1980 ET300 body that I've been pondering what to do with! I'm watching this thread with great interest!

Interesting subject....I too am looking at a transplant, however I want to throw an Exciter 440 motor into the ET340 frame.....

I am in process of finishing a 540 transplant into a 77 Exciter. It has been one challenge after another. The hood has been hacked and engine mounting has been redone at least five times. After I finish the exhaust mess I will decide how to make the hood reasonable. It may end up looking like an old A/C. I cannot tell you how many hours I have tied up in this Frankensled of mine. Think long and hard before you tackle this project, especially with the Enticer chassis being even smaller. Be prepared for a lot of fabricating work. Good luck.
