My alternative to the Boss seat
Perhaps this isn't an option for everyone but if you are a gamer, have a bit of mechanical ability and don't mind playing with things to get them right you could try to make your own seat from scratch. I decided to go that route a few months ago and have to say that I haven't had this much fun making something in quite a while. It isn't perfect but I like the new ride height and the storage under the seat better than stock.

I really like that, think it looks cool. Now you gotta tell us some details. What seat did you frankenstien to come up with that. Very creative. CCC
My alternative to the Boss seat
Actually I built it from scratch. I glued some home insulation foam together and shaped it for a mold, cut and sanded it to shape and then covered it with fiberglass. My wife is pretty good with sewing so she helped with the seat cover. I should probably attach a few pics for context.

Still waiting for snow - although it is getting colder
The foam I purchased for the seat is more firm than stock but that is what I wanted to mate up with the M20 airwave suspension I have. There is 5 inches of pure foam now so I am hoping those crazy times when the suspension bottoms will be nicer on my back. I fastened the seat cover itself and the foam seat with velcro so I can add / remove / replace the foam if I wish to fine tune further.

That looks awesome. It looks like it is sort of based on the Ski Doo Summit type of seat? Hopefully people will nag you enough that you end up putting detailed instructions on here. I know I'm game for making one for my srx next summer.

I think your seat is great. Actually alot better looking than the BOSS. I would think you could some royalty's for it from a seat manufacturer. Really, You did a great job, be proud of. Al

what tool did you use to shape the seat? i have used that foam board before, but doesnt seem easy to "shave" it like your pictures clearly show you did.
Hey kuips, I used 3 tools to shape the pink foam board. First I started with the electric knife from the kitchen, but don't tell my wife :P You have to take it slow with this one because it doesn't have that much power. Second I found it useful to use a standard utility knife from time to time. This was good for getting chunks off at one go. And thirdly I shaped the sides with a tool that I can only describe as a wood grater. It fits in the palm of your hand and has a cutting surface that resembles as cheese grater. It took a fair bit of time to shape it to the final shape. I had a general idea what I was looking for at the beginning but it really came alive when I started to shape it. The most difficult part of forming the pink foam was getting both sides to be relatively the same shape. It was quite a challenge as I had no real frame of reference to take measurements from. I am sure these days a "real" manufacturer could just model the thing in a computer and get a machine to make it in one fell swoop.
I like what you all have provided. After hearing about the prox shorty bowing a little, it makes me think that the assault seat would be a great match.........plus I can get my hands on one for much less$$$$$$$$.
By the way, awesome DIY seat.
