i have a 700 sx with bender triple pipes. im in the process of a complete tear down just to check everything over and clean everything up. my question is what are my options with the exhaust gasket? when i pulled the motor i could see where oil and such was getting by the gasket and running down the front of the motor. can i just clean the gasket up and use some high temp silicone or do i need to blow the $27 bucks or so on a new gasket. thanks in advance...

I may be wrong but I don't know what would fail on a multilayer metal gasket. I had the same problem but it was because the bolts started walking out and one on bottom had come off. I cleaned it up, put back on and torqued bolts. No further issues.

I use red hi temp rtv on gasket surface to cylinder
and torque bolts. Keep rtv thin just a coat and when
tightening bolts check exhaust port for any squishing
out. Never had 1 single problem since.

X2 - just make sure both surfaces and the gasket are clean/oil free and let it cure over night otherwise if you start it up before curing you may push it out.

Sprayed on a thin layer of COPPER COAT on the gasket before installing.
