If so, did you have to pay duty, GSt and PST.
Is there such a thing as warranty? Or does it really matter when you can get one for $8500.00US with the dollar the way it is. My dealer in Canada wants to charge me $12,500.00 With the exchange rate of $1.21 cd/us, it still only makes it $10,300.00 A difference of $2,200.00. Maybe a warranty isn't that important if it saves you this much.
What is your opinion?

You will be charged 15% tax!
You will definatly have to pay 15% tax on the purchase price of the sled, unless you can sneak it across inside a full size van LOL. Would be risky, especially with how high security issue's are today. I know one person who did this 4 years ago, the guy asked him how much he spent while he was over there and he told them about 7580 and the guard thought he ment $75.80 cents and waved him through. Buy at the end of jan and save about 1500 or so. Which sled are you buying. I know my dealer sells them for about 800 below list including pdi and frieght. (ie they won't add it on to the 800 discounted price)

You have to pay PST, GST, 6% duty and 185.00 registration fee. GST, duty and fee are payable at the border. You are actually supposed to notify U.S. Customs and they hold it for 48 hours to do a title search for status eg. borrower leins, stolen etc. I skipped this step but Canadian Customs told me that they can enforce that requirement. Does Yamaha have a policy of not providing warranty coverage for sleds purchased in the U.S.?

I know a guy that drove to SD to get a race sled and when the cute little Canadian boarder gaurd asked him if he had anything to declare he simply answered "nope". "Have a good day sir" she said and he was off.
If you're not going to trail ride it that's great. If you plan on registering it gets very difficult to cheat. Not Recommended!

I bought a SRX in the US last year. Follow all the steps & do it right or you will never be able to register the sled.

I am putting it into the auto trader. I notice your from Ottawa, just 30 minutes away from me. Are you interested in buying? I have done alot of the mods that you have read about on this web site. My brother has the exact same sled but is 3 years newer. I beat him every time. And not just by alittle. I also way about 50lbs more that him.
Let me know.

Anybody know if you can call US customs to do the title search before attempting to bring the sled over, or do you stop at US customs and drop the sled there untill it clears? (If they inforce it) Just curious as I may want to go to the US this fall, for a sled. Does the 6% apply to used sleds as well??
Thanks
