Hi I just got an 02 viper and it won't run at low rpm's but runs fine at high rpm's. I cleaned the carbs and replaced the spark plugs. Not sure what to look at next.

what is wont run at low RPM? Might just need to turn up idle. Second and i know you said you just cleaned them but are the carbs clean. One way to find out is when it wont run on idle when up flip up the choke does it run fine? If so dirty carbs. Need to make sure all the little things are clean. Check tech section for that, lots of pics. Sounds like pluged pilot jet? CCC

It only runs if you give it at about the speed the clutch kicks in. It runs the same way with the choke on. Just shuts off immediately without sputtering as soon as you let off the throttle. Backfired a couple of times.

sounds like dirty pilot jets/pilot circuit. check them carbs again, as well as the filter screen under the needle/seat.
If you pull the carbs off again to clean, I would also check the reeds for cracking or chipping.
Another trick to try is pulling off 1 of the plug wires and listen to the difference in how it runs. Do 1 cylinder at a time. If you have one that doesn't seem to make as much of a difference in how it runs, that cylinder, carb, reed, etc., may be suspect. It may help to narrow down which one may be giving the problem.

Also when you clean the carbs look close at the screens. When i did mine last year I had same problem. I took it to a yami shop and the tech said that there was a fine clear residue from ethenol sitting over summer. He said that it is actually a bacteria that grows because it is corn based. After that no problems. This was the case on 3 of my 4 sleds that were fueled on the last ride of the season where I couldn't get real gas
