I got this engine already torn apart and i was told that the heads had to be on a specific way, The OG1 and OG2 markings on the heads should be in a certain order. Is this true if so does anyone know what this order is ?
no order ..keep 2000-up heads together and 98-99 together
what is the reason for different heads ?
they don't have the same cc volume

og1 and og2 mean nothing the heads are the same. some sleds came with all og1 some with og2 and some with a mixture of both. the 8dn-10 or 8dn-00 is the number that matters -10 is 2000 and up,-00 is 98-99.
dont know if any truth to it but i was told they are differant one flows less coolant

no, theres no truth to that its simply a casting mark , they are the same heads.
8dn-00 are 98-99 heads
8dn-10 are 2000-02 heads, they all hold the same water.
I have been told the "odd one" goes on the cylinder that has the different jetting in the carb. in 2000 would be the cylinder #1. Why would Yamaha put in one odd cylinder head for each engine?

again , the heads are the same. if they were different they would have different part numbers and there would be somthing in the shop or tech update manuels about it.the chambers cc the same ,the squish area is the same and they hold the same volume of water.
