heres what i did. after a few minor incidents resulting in y fairing, cowl and w/s failures and purchasing some questionable used replacement parts from some ty members, i opted for a new route: black plastic push darts. i got some that require a 3/16" hole and others that use a 1/4". the rectangular slots in the so called headlight cover will recieve both sized darts without drilling. drilling is only required in the fairings. where the tabs break off the fairing pieces, mark the centers and smooth them out then drill the appropriate sized hole. i oversized the fairing holes 1/16" larger than the darts for some give. for the windshield screws, i used some stainless hardware temporarily while i am searching for black plastic screws and nuts. the push darts match the black color almost perfect and leave a clean factory type look. beats the heck out of colored tape. sorry, i am a computer tard and posting pictures is beyond my capability. i can email some from my phone if interested.
