speedwerx viper head

you would need to switch to an external thermostat and play around with the coolant hoses to get them to bend in the right directing... and Im not sure how close the O-Ring grooves will match up between the SpeedWerx grooves to the SRX grooves... I'll take a look tomorrow night when I am at the shop, I have an SRX torn apart still and one of those heads sitting on the shelf (that I need to sell, HINT HINT)

If anybody has a set of 14:1 or 15.5:1 speedwerx domes for these let me know..

jeff, i could easily make domes for you, but don't have the time right now. hit me up in a few months if you still need them, as i might have time then.

will this work on a srx motor. are they any good.

i don't believe it would work, as the srx cylinder already has o-rings grooves in it on top and the speedwerx head has o-ring grooves in it as well and i don't know how well the head would seal, w/2 o-rings butting up against one another if you know what i mean.

sure it can work, you would have a few options:

1.)youd simply run 1 layer of a viper headgasket. I would then remove the amount you added which is likely to be .010" from the bottom of the cylinders. The amount would also depend on how good the domes are anglewise and squish clearance.

2.) you can also simply devcon the o-ring grooves in the srx cylinders and then just face off the devcon in a bridgeport to make the surface true and allow the o-rings in the aftermarket head to seal. Its also easy to go back to srx heads as the devcon can simply be removed by a small pick out of the original srx groove in the cylinders.

isn't the stuff guys would use inside their port runners as like an epoxy? i've never used the stuff. ok, here are the notes i have, of when i last messed w/my buddies speedwerx head:

11 deg band angle
43% squish band=8.5mm
step cut in head was .035" deep
25.2cc-25.3cc w/spark plug

the only thing w/decking the cylinder bases, is that you would reduce port timing a smidge. also, are you saying you would devcon the speedwerx head shell too?....i guess you would have to.

Yup! I ended up with two heads, then decided to triple pipe, so i sold the higher comp ones..

hey amato, if you still want a speedwerx head, my buddy said that he would sell his. his have the 12:1 domes and every dome is perfect. there is nothing wrong w/his head at all. he has all the o-rings as well, but would recommend new ones.

will it work for my srx 780 big bore does it have 1 o ring. i am going to machine the domes to match my big bore if i get it.
