trying to take the axle out of my 02 viper. CANNOT GET THE LEFT BEARING TO COME OFF THE AXLE!!! :o| doesn't it have to come off to get the axle off?? i've tried everything, anyone know any backchannel ways of getting it off??

im about 2 days away from sending the entire project to the scrapyard and buying an arctic cat #$%&* #$%&* #$%&*

Kind of silly question but did you remember to take out the two set screws that clamp onto the shaft. I believe they are size T20 Torx. If you have done this already, you might want to try to find some penetrating lube and let it soak in for a bit and try again at yanking it out of there.

You're talking about your driveshaft that your drivers are on? You don't take the bearing off, you have to unbolt your chaincase and pull it back a bit, then you push your driveshaft to the right until the left side of the driveshaft can drop down and out then you pull it out of the chaincase side. Oh, you have to take the 3 nuts off the bearing holder on the left side and cut off or drill out the rivets holding it together if your sled has those in the bearing holder. Thats the way I do it anyways.

yea, i've taken the 2 set screws off. i have soaked them for days of bp blaster. i can't drill out the rivets or cut them, the drive wheels seem to get in the way.

I think I ground them off from the other side with a die grinder...or sheared them off with a hammer and chisel. I forget exactly

them bearings can get seized up on the shaft .The one on my 600 would not budge after I had the axle out.Pullers wouldn't do it,so carrefully took my dremel and cut it so I can split it open until it moved..

ahh...before drilling or grinding anything..i would try using a 3 jaw universal puller on it! Worked for me anyways!

are u changing the track or replacing the bearings. i can help u with both if you want .i have a special tool that makes the track easy to change.

i am replacing the track and the axle. going 144 so im putting 8 tooth anti ratchet drivers on. im probably going to throw away the axle and drivers anyways, if worst comes to worst, i'm cutting right through the axle :)

you drill the rivets out from the inside of the engine bay, under the clutchs.

Dude. Take off the secondary and use a hammer and chisel to shear the ends of the rivets off. Then use a punch to tap them out and whalla axle comes out.
Patience man, its frustrating the first time you do it.
And for god sakes, dont cut the axle!!
