Removing Anodized Paint

I want to remove the blue anodized paint off a pair of RX1 traction brackets, would aluminum paint stripper (real strong stuff) that i used on my tunnel work?.................James

if it is anodized its like stain in wood. you have to sandblast it off.

Would that damage them at all and how would the finish be, could it be buffed to shine after sandblast...............James

it will be rough. you can wet sand it smooth again then polish it, but that will be a lot of work. if you want a different color i think yamaha has them in red or black.

Thats ok i was just trying to get the aluminum look to go with my stripped tunnel on my 2000 SRX, oh well blue it is, thanks for the info IROC .......James

I tried marine boat stripper on my chassis and it ate it right up, you migfht want to try it on that too.

I found it hard to believe also but it doese realy work i was told to do it when i was stripping ome go-cart parts. i was amazed it realy works

if all else fails, gett'er chromed. Very minimal maintenance compaired to polished aluminum.

Hey Reaper. Sand Them First With 120 Grit (all In One Direction) Then Use
220 Grit, Then Go To A 400 Grit And Then To A 1000 Grit. Polish With Metal Polish, And The Result Will Be "the Chrome Look" Trust Me I Know I Have Done It Lots Of Times. Anodized As Well.
