The primary clutch is done on my wifes 97 MM600 twin.
I did a favor for a friend last year and ended up with a P-85 off his 2004 RMK 800. They are suppose to both be 30mm 1:10 taper (but I can't figure out what this means).

If you look at some clutch application guides, you can have a 0.2 long bore and a 0.03 short bore both with a 30mm 1:10 taper

I know there are at least 4 different P-85 clutches but don't know what years and sleds used what clutch and if this one will work on the 97 MM600.

Can anyone shed some light on this taper thing.

I was under the impression that if the tapers matched, it would work. I can tune the P-85 if it will fit. From what I can tell, they are both 0.3, 30mm 1:10 tapers. I am not planning on using the yamaha weights springs etc...I am planning on using the Yamaha primary bolt, no washer and machined bushing. I will use Poo weights and spring. It's my wife's sled, so it doesn't have to be a monster, just trailable.

Your thoughts?

So I blued the PTO taper today and it looks like a direct fit. I will have to knock a few thou off the shoulder on the Yamaha clutch bolt, but I should be able to use the Polaris bushing after that.

I guess that would be the diff betwwen this P-85 and the wide roller triple would be that you can't use the Yamaha weights in this one?

this is the question i was answering.

If you got one off a 800 rmk its most likely a HD which is the best one. If all possible use the new 11 series polaris weights. They have a new profile and are very aggresive.

So just doing some measuring with the calipers...The rollers appear to be the same widthe as the Yamaha clutch...

So would this be a wide roller P-85?
