Started m sled tonight (we have gotten snow) and i gave it some throttle it moved foward then a POP, now the track is seized up, when i give it throttle it will tighten up but wont go forward, i can move the (clutch not attached to motor, secondary?) sec, clutch when the motor is off and the track will spin, also the secondary clutch will spin at the engaging rpm but track wont move.
Any ideas?

so, if you raise the back of the sled up, remove the drive belt, will the track spin if you grab the secondary clutch and turn it? if not, your drive chain has broken likely.

ok i can spin the secondary while the motor is off and the track spins
with the belt off can you rotate the clutch on back forward and backward in complete 360 degree circles?
does the primary clutch grab the belt when you give it the gas? smell like burning rubber?
((you can open the hood, open the belt guard and take it off and see if the clutch grabs the belt, just barely move it, its just to see if the primary is working))

yes there is a smell of burning rubber
primary spring broken, or something in the front clutch then if the sled wont move
talked to him on the phone.. his rollers are shot.. possibly his weights too,, he needs to get a wrench to take the primary cover off as he did not have one.
Told him he will have a much better look at th weights and primary spring when he gets the cover off

found the wrench i needed, the good toolbox got buried behind the powertools in the roll-away.
TOm- i sent you the pictures, rollers and weights are definitly shot, spring looks to be fine but while its apart might as well as throw it in there

easy enough fix,
any ideas as to what the noise was, hard to belive it came from these little parts

If the primary clutch spring is still good, the pop may have come from the clutch opennig up quickly. Usually doesnt happen when there is a belt in place, but a posability.

ya ill order a new spring and get it in there too, might as well if i have everything apart,
is there any things i can do to kind of be preventive maintinence for the rollers and weights? tom told me they tend to be a bit of a problem in the twins. Would like to do all i can to keep the sled in the best working condition

Rebuilt my clutch about 8-9 yrs ago on my 96 and i keep it clean and adjusted. Has held up good. Everything is still in spec. CCC
