I would like to build a vintage sled for grass, ice racing. It doesn't have to be super quick but something thats fun, but not crazy expensive. I've found someone who has 300 vintage sleds all in various conditions and makes for sale. Now I'd like to find something that is fairly easy to get parts for.

I'd really like a 440 SRX but potential projects seem overpriced.
What about a gpx, I've seen some nice ones on here.
I'd like a list of sleds that would be good platforms to start with. Since most of what i'm looking at was made before I was born.

Thanks Matt
It doesn't have to be a yamaha but would like it to be.

It might be beneficial to look into some of the classes that are offered in your local circuits. Some circuits do not allow wet engines so that could rule out the SRX's. If you are looking for fast, then go with the Free air sleds. Otherwise, the 440 F/C sleds are an extremely popular class to race in. We have raced them all from a 250 ET to a MOD 440 GPX. It truly depends on how deep you wanna get into it all. We just threw a 340 SRX together for Eagle River this year so we will see...

got an 80 srx that id consider selling for the right price, chassis and bellpan are in great shape and motor is fresh with new pistons rings and nickasil on the cylinders, also new bearing in the water pump and gaskets all around. Thats the good. the bad is that it needs a suspension and seat and hood.
