Hey all. What do you guys think of Yamaha's Sno Force helmets?
I had bought a Z1R rail helmet and a pair of Scott Hi-Voltage II goggles but I was really displeased with the fit of the helmet and goggles.
A local dealer has a sale going on where they were selling Sno Force helmets for $70.
Before I switched to a MX helmet I used to wear a Bell wedge. Those helmets worked fine, but had a tendency to fog sometimes.
How does the sno force compare to the old wedge?

I bought a sno force helmet last year and hated it,wore it once.Very poor quality imo.I sold it and bought an hjc cl-14 and was very happy with it,much better helmet for the money.

The standard sno-force always fit me wrong. It placed pressure on my ears. However, I just picked up the sno-force modular. Seems to be a real nice helmet. Fits much better than the standard. The strap clip is the feature that I missed the most with my HJC.

Sno Force

I bought a Sno Force a few years back, did not like it, would not recommend it. The nose piece does not do much to deflect your breath and does not conform to your face very well. I replaced it with an HJC CL-14. HJC is a very good helmet.

Just my $.02

good luck

sno force helmet is made by lazer helmets pretty much the same as a lazer sn 45 or 65, the hjc cl-14 is a nice helmet but if your use to wearing a cross helmet if you went to cl-14 the jaw bone will feel as if it right up on your face.....dont care for the sno-force, port yamaha has them even cheaper i beleive

Interesting, seems like most people dont care for the sno force.
Maybe I just need to try a different shaped goggle with my Z1R helmet.
The Hi-Voltage II's have this huge piece of foam that goes over your eyebrows and I think thats where a major part of the problem is coming from.
Also, the goggles themselves are just HUGE. If I look in the mirror with the goggles on, I can see about 1" of my forehead through the lenses. Maybe I need to try a pair of plain old Scott 87s.
Sorta makes me wish I would have just stuck with my old HJC helmet. This Z1R is nice, it fits a lot better and is waaay lighter. Now I just wish I could find a pair of goggles that will fit well with this helmet.
All I know is I had better get this figured out soon. I will be riding in 11 days!
Woo-hoo, gotta love this time of year!!!

I have the blue sno-force helmet w/ the viper strobes on it..payed like 220 dollars for it and i hate it...w/ the shield closed it doesnt seal properly and the cold air blows right through it freezing my forehead....not a good helmet at all

Hebi, what problem are you having with the goggles that you don't like? There's a lot of guys on here using MX helmets w/ goggles so maybe someone can help ya out. I personally use an HJC MX helmet w/ the goggles you have and haven't had a problem in two years so I'm interested to hear what you don't like.

I used to use a HJC LS-Airtech 2 helmet before I got my sno-force helmet with my sled in 2001. Both HJC had severe problems with the face shield fogging up. My sno force is a little tight on my forehead but I have NEVER had the faceshield freeze up on me and it keeps me warm to -20*f.

It's alot like the old Bell wedge. I have had both. I like both of them for the extra room of the wedge design (no clostephobic feeling). I know I spelled that wrong! Four guys in my riding group wear them for this reason. I used mine without a heated shield for a couple of years, fogged up from time to time, especially going in and out of buildings. Switched to a heated shield last year, never fogged once. I wear glasses and it seemed to help them too. Be sure to try the helmet on with whatever head sock you wear, I wear a Shellaclava , never got cold, no noticable air leaks, no frostbite, tested to -15 so far.

My problem has a lot to do with the foam on the goggles.
They have this HUGE piece of foam on the top part of the goggle and goes on your forehead.
The Scott 89s that I wore in the past didnt have all that much foam on them, and we a lot more comfortable.
I may end up just wearing my old goggles. They worked fine. The only reason I bought the new pair was because I now have a blue helmet so I wanted goggles that matched (my old helmet and goggles were orange to match my orange Polaris suit).
Overall Ive been really pleased with the combination of MX helmet and goggles. I never really had problems with fogging.

I swear by hjc helmets... i have a full face and mx style, love them both... good visibility on the closed face... and nice looks.... just my 2 cents...

Well, my helmet arrived via UPS on Tuesday.
I like it. Its blue with some checkering on it and says YAMAHA with the tuning fork on the back.
It fits me really well and from all I can tell at this time it should be very nice.
The breath guard could have been designed a little bit better but it works fine.
Im considering getting the mirrored visor for it. I almost never ride at night so I think the mirrored might be a good addition.
All in all Im excited about this year's first ride, 7 days and counting! Woo-hoo!!!

No, its not the modular. Im not a big fan of the modular helmets. I dont see whats so hard about unbuckling a chin strap and taking off a helmet that you need one where the front flips up.
Its just a standard one but it does have better graphics than the ones Yamaha currently sells. Its blue with checkers on it, reflective Yamaha logo on the back.
Heres some pics...

LOL...I hear you on that one.
I think the mirroed visor is going to be great. When I ride by rathar than people looking at me and seeing my eyes, they will see nothing but their own reflection. Spooky!!!
