Thinking about buying a new sled to me. Found myself a 04 MTN Viper. 2500 miles, all stock. Sled looks really really clean. He wants 3750 for it. Just the base Viper, so no Ohlins or anything. Does have a new 144x2" track. I am going to offer him 3000 for it, sound reasonable? Pros or cons to this sled?

Sounds Like A Fair Deal For Both Parties. Good Sled.
SO I should offer 3K?

Low Retail Is 2635, So You Are In The Middle Of High And Low....if You Could Get It For 3 That Would Be A Good Deal.

Depends on how much you want a Mt Viper. They are becoming increasingly rare -- especially the '04 and '05's, which are tough to find.
If you really want it, I'd say up to $3,500 is not over paying.
Mt Vipers are a great do it all sled and even a fantastic every day trail sled. They have great off trail control and lay down very easily and controllable. I'd say maybe the easiest mountain Yamaha to lay down off trail ever made. The Mountain Max is good too.
As a fellow TY'er I strongly caution you from this purchase however. Not becuae of this price, which I don't feel is out of line. But because it is only the beginning....... Then come the mods.
Don't get me wrong, you will love every second of it.
And Barack Obama, Geithner, SLP, Master Card, and Visa will love this purchase because nobody can leave a Viper like this stock.
First it will be Triple Pipes and skis. Then a Boss seat and 2" or 3" riser. It never ends and soon you will have a $13,000 Viper. And you won't regret a minute of it.
Just saying.......

Well FWIW, i paid 3300 for mine in 2008, with ~3500 miles on it. It was almost as clean as that one. And boy do I agree with Mike. Mine was stock for the first two months, then went triples, billet head, bar/riser/ boss seat/ m series suspension/ p85 clutch/timbersled front end. BE PREPARED to FALL IN LOVE!
