Hello,
I have pretty good mechanical knowledge, but have never attempted to understand clutches and clutching. But I do every year take it apart, clean and polish up the bushings etc. So I have over 9,000 miles on my Viper now, and I am going through the clutches for the season and was just wondering how to tell or what to look for as to when to replace the bushings etc? Everything looks fine, bushings seem to spin decent, not like a bearing, but spin free. As a side note, I do replace the spring every couple of years depending on the # of miles I put on. Any advice? I have not changed the clutching, just for the simple fact that it is a fast stock sled, I have raced well over 20 different stock vipers over the years and I always seem to be several sled lengths ahead in the end. So figure why mess with it if it works.
