I recently switched over to a 136, 1 1/4 set up on my 01 srx. I took it out to test the set up and weight transfe. So far so good with the suspension. On the way back i did a couple of launches and let it stretch it legs a bit. I heard it the first time, sounded like the engine bogged so I repeated the process keeping an eye on the tach. It pulled hard and then the RPMs dropped to around 7000(was tough to read at the time). It was still pulling but not as it should.

Changes so far

1 -1 1/4 136 track - rail extensions
2- bender race can
3- rebuilt secondary with green spring wrapped to 70
4- general maintenance, clean carbs and power valves etc

The prinmary is all stock and clean. Sled has about 2000miles on it.

Just curious if anyone can think of any thing obvious to check. When i have an chance i an going to take it out and do a little more testing.

Thanx in advance

where did you go and open her up???What is your gearing like with that track? The track is lugging you down some, you'll have to play with your clutching now to get them rpm's back up there.

I was out in Neepawa - nice off trail riding

From reading i was expecting some power loss, with the can but didn't think that much. \I was just on an old road and didn;t let he run for very long.

That track should not pull your rpm,s down like that. Maybe you installed the secondary spring wrong.

When you say installed the secondary spring wrong - do you mean to much or not enough wrap? The gearing is stock, I can look at dropping a tooth or two.

Just to clarify it sounded likeit reved up and then droped back - so I was think it was clutching, but gearing could also be it. From reading i didn't think it would be that much difference, but each sled is a little differnt.

i owned 3 srx,s & live near you in brandon. Gearing &/0r longtracking won,t make that big a diff. Sounds like when you re-assembled your secondary & set the preload u did it wrong..i allmost guarentee it.

what Turk meant was after you put spring in position 1 on sheave and in position 6 on helix..did you twist it properly before helix dropped down into position? If your rotate the moveable sheave..will it spring back on it's own.Does your belt drop down to fast in the 2ndary..like going from 1st gear into 3rd or 4th gear..lugs motor down. You should be gearing down some with that track, unless you have the power..like porting done to the motor. But I would think gearing down will help you in the deep snow with that longer track and higher lug then stock.
