Looking for some advice. I tore up the rubber bushing on the lower end of my front KYB shock on my '02 Viper ER when I removed them for a rebuild. The lower mount bolt was frozen in the metal insert and when I turned it it tore out of the shock body. Had to remove the trailing arm and cut the bolt with a die grinder. Looked on the Yamaha site and looks like they don't sell just the rubber insert and bushing.

Has anyone had this happen before? Can it be repaired? Anyone have a spare shock they want to part with? Like to go to Ohlins, but not in the budget at $600+/pair.....

Called Mike Carver at Carver performance, and he hooked me up with the new eyelet bushing for $10 + shipping. What a great guy !!! He took the time to review my options on some Fox, Ohlin, and the cost of rebuild on my KYB's.

I will definitely call him the next time I need shock work !!!!

Good news and bad. The part Mike Carver thought was correct turned out to be wrong after all. Mike called back after I posted to tell me, so the hunt began anew....... :o| :o| :o|

But, after some searching I finally found the new bushing insert part on another site. See here:

http://www.deycore.com/

The part is under the Parts , KYB/HPG tab here:

http://www.deycore.com/metric.htm

Scroll down about 2/3rds the way down, and see PN 12001-32927, eyelet bushing, $20.00, 23mm od, 10mm id, 30mm length

I ordered one, and shipping to Michigan was $6.00. So, I saved the shock for $26

Good Luck !!!!
