I have kicked around the idea of long tracking my SRX but figured I'd wait til the track on it now was used up but recently I started wondering if anyone went the 128" route instead of the standard 136"?A bud of mine with an 01 SRX did this with a mono skid install and he didn't add a tunnel extension although I would most likely go this way with one but it is curious if the extra rail is absolutely necessary or if 128 would give you the bump bridging ride as much as 136?

I'd go 136" as a 128" really isn't that much more track on the snow.I have nearly 6000 miles on my 136" setup on my sx 700 and love it!There really are no drawbacks with this and its more of everything you'd want your sled to be!Except maybe more cost for a tunnel extension, but its worth it and I may never ride a short tracker again.
agree 110% with swede. Since switching to 136 ive never looked back. Traction, stability, comfort are all so much better its unreal. and a tunnel extension is much cheaper than a mono skid.
however, a 128 mono is an incredible ride, better than a proaction could be no matter what length. how much you want to spend is the deciding factor

That's kind of what I figured the 136 is a better all around set up and I'm not sure why my bud only went the 128 route for extensions.I have an SC10 II in the sled now but have really thought about ditching it in favor of a mono if I could get a decent buy on one as I see that guys that have put one in have said it was heads and shoulders above the stocker. That doesn't take very much to be honest but I have yet to get the SC10 II dialed in to where it is all that much better than the Pro Action which is another contributing factor to me wanting a mono skid.I guess for now at least I will get the shocks rebuilt and run it this way for this season until I can afford to do the swap the way I want it.

I've spent some time riding ski-doo's with the sc-10 2 and never thought it was all that great. Now the sc-10 3 is quite a bit better, but I agree with you on your current setup.
How much different is the SC10 III from the II version? Is there really that many changes made to the design that it rides that much better?I got to be honest I'm really not impressed with mine but then again it may be just a matter of having the shocks re valved for my weight.

The 3 is quite a bit more plush with a very similar resistance to bottoming out in really rough conditions.I honestly don't know anybody who had there shocks revalved on one of those so its kind of a unknown. All doo skids seem to have a wide range of adjustment for rider weight with simple rear preload adjustments so I doubt thats your problem. The original sc-10 and what you have were great ditch bangers for there day, but just are not very comfortable in my opinion.Snow Tech magazine said the same thing back in the day.

The sc-10 3 has more travel mainly in the rear arm I believe.
