Hi I just bought a 00 srx 700 and would like to know where to start to get this baby ready for the snow and have everything ready to roll with the least chance of a let down

I am very familiar with sleds but for the last 3 years I've split time between a 79 and an 80 tigre and was able to keep those in good running order but this is by far the newest sled I've owned and it seems to have several more parts

I ordered a service manual and have been looking at the one available for free online(wish I had found that first but oh well) so I should be able to get through most of it but I'd like to hear from you guys who have been riding these and hear what to pay extra attention to and whats not in the manual

also when I go to get started on these powervalves do I need a gasket kit ( I see people sell used on ebay) and will I need a kit with all of the o-rings

I've also cleaned my share of carbs but this setup is quite different than what I'm used to should I be intimidated or is it as eaasy as the rest

the only 2 thing so far that are wrong with it is that the oil light stays on and the foam that goes on top of the airbox is missing

does the sensor for the oil go bad is this common or rare

sorry about the long post but I'm anxious to get this bad girl primed up for the snow and I hate breakdown so I like to give them a good go through

Those 3 are the main ones regarding engine compartment service but one thing I'd add is do a compression check on the cylinders. This is usually something done before a person buys a sled but where you already have it now would be a good time to do it to see if the rings are weak or not. Most generally this is done on a warm engine but if that's not possible make sure that you hold the throttle open and pull the engine over a few times to get the reading.

The skid has a few areas that needs attention too the front arm, commonly called the W arm because of its shape,is prone to cracking so make sure you look it over well. Also the 2 L shaped brackets that the W arm bolt to down by the rails have bushings and collars in them and unless the previous owner was meticulous in his service I'd be willing to bet that they are worn out completely.Do yourself a favor and when you have the W arm off to check it out take the 2 L brackets off the rails, drill and tap them for a grease zerk so your NEW bushings wont suffer the same fate.

sx lover thank you for the links those are exactly what I was looking for they are well written and with the pics it makes it alot harder to screw up

four barrel I did a comp test it read 135-140 cold on my tester not sure what they are supposed to be at but I will do a leakdown test this week to make sure I am in good shape

the w arm seems to be intact it looked like someone may have rewelded the joints because the pain is gone at at all of the joints if they did they did a great job looks very professional I'not even sure if that is where they crack at though

I will take a look at those bushing also and thats a great Idea about the grease fitting don't understand why they don't install those things everywhere to begin with

other than those things these sleds are pretty solid though you would say other than those few things there isn't anythingelse to pay extra attention to
