Hello I am new to this site and have read some great threads. I reciently bought a 02 viper and was wondering if it pays to put a 1.25 track on or a new 1" track.

thanks, I guess I was concerned about needing a rear heat exchanger if I went with a taller lug.

if your not concerned about loosing some of your top speed definetely go with the 1.25, its a huge improvement, the only thing to worry about is the front heat exchanger but only if you stud it. if your non studded it wont bother.

I have a 1.25", unstudded on my 02 Viper, and I really like it. Hooks up better than a stock track, and since I do no ice running as it is, I dont need the studs. I am very impressed with my Ripsaw.

The extra .25 isn't going to make you run any hotter and honestly won't rob top end either. The stock track has something like .92 lugs. When I swapped mine out the weight was almost the same as 1.25. If you ever decided to go larger than 1.25 you'd have to get smaller drivers to clear the front heat exchanger. If you ever went longer 136"+ you'd want to add the rear heat exchanger.

I've got an 1.5 ripsaw track on my 02 viper with the stock drivers. I did have to remove the protectors on the front heat exchanger and on the tunnel but I don't run studs and don't plan to. Talk about hooking up! I lost a small bit on the top end but it's worth it!

Chad, if you're changing the track go with 1.25 for sure. I highly recommend the ripsaw.

i swapped mine out when i had my vipe. i went from a studded .92 to a stock 1.25 ripsaw. amazing hookup unless on a lot of ice. we just took the front exchanger protectors out so the track would not rub them. was not running studs in the ripsaw. lug up for sure!

Surely agree with that!! I run 1.25" with no studs and love it(ripsaw)

I just put 1 1/4" ripsaw last year best thing i ever did with the sled. Removed front protectors and on she went all good. Do it man.

If you can find a Predator by Camoplast (1.25) I can personally attest that it works by far the best for all around performance on the Viper. The Ripsaw is not that good in loose snow. The Predator hooks up great on the trail, does decent off trail and has very respectable top end.

I have the 1.25 rip saw with 144 1.325". I did have to snip the very tips of the tracks would contact the protectors on the front heat exchange but now wish I wouldhave went with the 1.375 studs.

in my opinion, if you're gonna buy a new track get a longer one too. putting a 136x1.5 intense on my viper was amazing on my 03 viper. way more hook up, better ride, night and day difference. it made it so much better of a sled on and off trail it is amazing. so if cost is no issue get a rail/tunnel extension, or a skid relocation/tunnel extension from someone like hartmanns. as previosly mentioned you'll have to doo away with your bulkhead cooler protectors (welded on but no big deal to cut of with die grinder) and tunnel protectors (riveted on).
