Hi, I am looking at buying a 1998 Yamaha Mountian SRX 700, it has about 3,000 miles on it. I am new to snowmobiling, I rode for the first time yesterday. What should I look at and look out for on the sled? He is asking $1000 for it, is that a good price?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

if i had an oppertunity to buy an srx 700 for $1000 right now i`d jump all over it if its in descent shape. I will echo the previous reply and say make shure the crank was serviced. So if thats done and all it really needs is the standard TLC I say go for it.
If the crank is not welded is it somthing that Yamaha does for free or do I need to pay for it?
Check the suspension over good, I just bought one for $1600. The sled looked like new but I didn't bend down far enough to look at rear skid frame and I now have an extra $600 in the skid alone!

Take your VIN number to your dealer or call Yamaha costumer service and ask if the crank has been updated they'll be able to tell you, unfortunately it's been too long and it's your puppy to fix if it hasn't been done.
as far as being new to the sport or Yamaha do some reading here lots of maintenance on a srx with the power valves and all,but over all very good reliable sleds use premium fuel also.

Unfortunately the sled got sold from under me about a hour before I got home and there are no other SRX's for sale, I am now very sad.
