looking for a good starting point.
stock 00 srx 700, 200lb driver. looking to run 23/40 gears if i can find a 40 by the weekend.
i have 54//46 dalton, hauk 45/41 (k), stock 47, and potentially a 50/40 bender if it gets here by the weekend.
i have www yammie, fett bros 150/300, and heelclicker red primary springs
and yammie green and silver secondary springs.
any insight would be appreciated, its just a backyard bragging rights type of event but would like to make a good showing

8bu-00 with .8 inner rivet and 4.5 tip, w/w/w spring with 2 spring shims, the helix would depend on if you get the 50/40 would be my first pick on your list, second would be 45/41. I myself personally would try the 54/46,but it will depend on how the chassis is set up as to how that one would work, because its gonna load it very, very hard, and with a 200lb rider. You would likely want the silver sec. spring at 70-80 with any helix and maybe 90 on the 54/46,youd have to try it and see what your rpm is.
You want it to be 8000-8100rpm out of the hole, meaning it just goes to there and stops for the first 100ft of the track, then it will climb slowly to 84-8500rpm by the end of the track.
I think youll need gears somewhere closer to 20/39, 20/40, that 23/40 will be too tall for only 500ft racing.
(add: a 51/45 helix would be ideal)

yeah i figured as much but limited to what i got this close to the weekend,I think youll need gears somewhere closer to 20/39, 20/40, that 23/40 will be too tall for only 500ft racing.
thanks for the other pointers don

I am hoping to get out to do some grass racing my self. We have acc to a old air strip and we still have sum snow on the ground north of Bangor. Until Wednesday. When we get more DAMN RAIN!

If you wanted to go to Bangor you could get gears and chain at Automatic Distributors. Here is the number so you can check to see if they have in stock before you ride up.

same set up, likely youd need 4.5 in both holes with a 780
youll need the same gears for either the 700 or the 780, no way around that.
