My wife and I were having a discussion on snowmobiles. I have recently completely rebuilt my rear suspension, cleaned and rebuilt powervalves, new clutch, polished sled from top to bottom, replaced worn track clips...and so on. She said "now your sled is all ready and needs nothing more right?" I told here a "sled is never complete" IE: new skis, clutch kit, new more agressive track, reed pack, and so on. Can anyone help me explain to her why us men are never happy with "GOOD ENOUGH" or "FAST ENOUGH".
Because We Are Never Satified With What We Have And The Man With The Fastest Toys Wins.
just ask her if she is satisfied with her house/home. if she mentions a reno or "up date" she wants done, tell her it is the same way with your sled.
i was goint to be foolish and tell you to tell her that the only thing you are happy with is her but that might bite back.

I look at it two different ways:
1. Trade off's - I get sled parts and toys, she gets the new jeans, boots, clothes, etc. more often than is really necessary. We basically balance it out, plus she doesn't want to ride a POS.
2. For as much as we ride, we have somewhat older sleds (98 & 01). Older sleds take a bit more upkeep and its still cheaper than a 6-8k new one.
JMO.

This will be her first winter ridding and after a couple rides I think she will be saying as we all do....."FASTER"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!! So true!
WOMEN!!! How on earth do you rationalize things like sled expenses with them?
"Well of course I need all these new parts dear, you don't want me breaking down out in the middle of nowhere do you?"

thats part of their handbook, you wont win, no point in trying to win... lol especially when it comes to explaining why making toys go faster is a good thing

Here's how I approach things..."Hun I need to buy this super sweet new Ripsaw track because they claim I will get better fuel economy due to less track spin, and that realistically means the track willpay for itself, plus I can EBay my old track to pay for half of the new purchase so we could be money ahead!!!!!!" P.S. This really doesn't work. My wife is actually really cool about all of my projects (4 sleds and a boat). It boils down to bedroom performance...the better i do the more stuff I get...NO NOOKIE, NO NEW PERFORMANCE PARTS...get it!!
Just better to keep quiet . . . IMO

I've tried that approch once, bought a new set of shocks for the front suspension on one of my sleds without telling her first. Low and behold she noticed they were not the same color as the old ones.

Ah, you picked an observant one (or did she pick you).
Sometimes it better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
gotta hand it to my old lady shes very laid back when it come to my toys, when it come to snowmibiling she wants nothing to do with it, she couldnt even tell you what color any of my three sleds are. now come to think of it she still think i only have one (secret it to make sure they are all the same color
........ she doesnt care as long as the mortgage is paid there is gas in her car and food in the fridge all is good. ![Rock On  ](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/rockon.gif)

Somebody must have stolen yours and swapped these other ones in place of them . . . Actually still better to keep mouth shut. Acting dumbfounded always helps too. Just verifies their opinion of us which makes them feel better right away . . .Exciter89 said:I've tried that approch once, bought a new set of shocks for the front suspension on one of my sleds without telling her first.
