Every year I clean my carbs, and every year they look clean, but I clean them anyways. For whatever reason though, this year was different.
Every bowl I removed contained small yellow ballls, I'm assuming this is gas. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
The only two things I did different for storage this year, was fog the cylinders, and I ran 87-89 oct. instead of 93 all season.
Please give me your questions, comments, and concerns, if any.

In Canada, Premium fuel has little to no "Ethanol". I suspect the difference you are experiencing is from the poorer quality of fuel you were running and left in sled for storage. I normally have a blend of 100LL Av Gas and premium fuel[no "E"] in my tanks/carbs when the sled gets stored and the carbs are always clean and good to go for the next season. When I parked my SRX last spring it had "TrailSide" regular[at best] fuel in it and now this fall my bowls were dirty and pilot jets were plugged...maybe someday I'll learn!

I don't know about Illinois fuel but I suspect ethanol. I typically see white gel like balls in the bowls I've pulled the past few years. Seem this year has been a banner year for these little balls. I've had at least a dozen carbs apart this fall and all but two had them.
If I'm not mistaken regular 87 octane fuel is yellow so perhaps your balls are yellow because of the die put into the fuel.
Better yellow balls than blue.
Thats Ethanol causing varnish.... dont store your sled with any gas or at least high octane with sea foam. Drain carbs once fogged and gas treated.

i have had the same thing the last two years. i assumed it was from spraying a ton of fogging oil into them for summerization. i guess it could be the ethanol though.

So adding a decent amount of Stabil and running it through the carbs. won't stop this? I always run 2-3 times the recommended amount of Stabil to try and stop this from happening, obviously it didn't work this year.
Also, the only reason I store the sled with gas in it, is i've been told it makes next seasons start easier. Through research though, it sounds like SRX's are a beast no matter what. In the process of researching the viper carbs.

Yamaha does not (nor do I) recommend storing with fuel (treated or not).
The ethanol is an important part of the octane rating in most premium fuels and if/when it seperates not only do you run the risk of contaminates in the fuel (the jelly fish) but also a lowing of the octane rating.
No big deal for a 6.5:1 CR lawn mower but in an SRX?
IMO - fuel treatments (Startron, Stabil, Seafoam) are fine for low performance 4 stroke applications but for most 2 stroke applications I wouldn't use it... not even in my Husquvarna weedwacker. When you need the anti-knock compounds the most (first snowfall - WFO long pull across the lake woo-whoo) they might not be there, but Mr. Squeaky might be.
I'd rather pull the plugs and pour pre-mix for season opener than pull the plugs and find melted aluminum.

The gas now days sucks and it will varnish easily with ethanol there for high octance is best with zero ethanol. Stabil and ethanol dont mix well so seafoam is the better choice. With gas sitting to long it looses its ability to burn the longer it sits and once mixed with crappy ethanol and or water now you have problem.

Thanks for the input. Up til now i've always been told to leave the tank 1/2-full to full with gas, but never really liked doing it for the fact I have 8 month old gas in there and its junk.
Do you guys agree then; at the beginning of the season with the sled is completely empty of gas, fill it up with freash gas and pore premix down each cylinder to get it going?

I also like the entire system drained, but the carbs are key. The fuel in there will evaporate and leave anything that doesn't evaporate behind. The last place you want anything besides clean fuel/oil mix is in the carb bowl.

I tried this this year still have not pulled the carbs yet. Just started it to get it out the garage took 4 times of pulling plugs and pouring in premix before it would stay running.

Is that the new v-power/ nitrogenated fuel. I was going to get some but somewhere I read that you need to up the mains one size with that nitrogenated stuff.

i have yami trained mechanic buddy i will talk to him tonight and see what he has to say about shell he is the one that told me to go there he gets fuel reports from some one around here
