Does anyone know a formula to figure exhaust volume? I need to build a pipe for my 77 Exciter, I put a 540 from an XLV in it and I am told the pipe from the 340 is causing a backfire problem in the exhaust.
Any help is appreciated.

could you possibly use measurements from the XLV and mod the exciter pipe to work? may just need to add some length to the expansion chamber. I would think it's a little short for the bigger motor.

The problem is chassis space. As it is I had to cut the hood up to clear the top of the engine. I am not sure if I will be able to fit the XLV pipe in or not. Either way I need to do some mod work to make it work. Just looking for any help I can find.

I tried to fit the XLV pipe today and it is way to big to fit in the engine compartment even without the hood!
I am going to have to fix up the Exciter pipe and make it work.
