Hey i just wanted to get some opinions/thoughts on porting sx700 cylinders for the trails? Good/Bad? And is there a pretty good amount of power gain? Would appreciate some advice, thanks.
 
its a good idea, if you have someone that actually knows what they are doing do it. and, a "port job" that just cleans up casting flaws ain't gonna cut it. you need someone that know just where/how much on the ports and other parts of the cylinders to cut, to get you some true/good/reliable hp gains. all my trail sleds (srx/viper/rev) are ported w/no issues.
 
I've been told you'll easily gain 10-12 hp with some good ported cylinders.To really bring it all together you need to port the case and reed block area to fit srx/viper reeds in there, theres a piston mod as well.Word is they really haul with all this stuff done, don't know what the hp gain is with everything listed done.I received most of this info from Don(Mr. Viper) on this forum, he's the man for this type of stuff!
 
I actually do have a porting guy in mind and i just didnt know also if I port it am i gonna have alot of problems with the sled loading up all the time if im just cruisin around or is that just depending on how i tune it and how aggressive of a port job i have done?

I have a sxr 700 motor that runs super, I put it in a viper chassis i had sitting around. Ported with bender pipes, peak head, v-force, I have a good clutch set up with heel clickers and a heel x secondary. I had justin fuller that use to work for bender for a long time do the porting, nice job, the guy knows his stuff. 5,000 trouble free miles, just put new pistons in to fresh her up. this machine dumps any 700 i have run it againest reguardless of distance. good low end, strong mid and just keeps pulling on top end
