ok so i had my 01 srx out today and rode it around and noticed my rpms at idle would not drop below 3000 what gives ?? had it out the other day and it would drop to 1800 like it should i checked choke it was fine i turned down idle so it was at 1800 I just bought this sled and it has about 1200 miles on it i pulled plugs and all plugs are nice and brown the center plug was a little lighter brown i put 93 octane gas in it and running yamalube power valves are nice and clean So any ideas i dont want to melt my sled was turning idle down the right thing to do?? i have noticed scenic i dropped rpms it seems to run alot better and it hits 8500 no problem and stays there all seems to be ok but i want to make sure

Didn'T mention if carbs were cleaned..... Id start there and open fuel screws up a 1/4 turn if still at stock setting... May have gotten some bad gas,,, Its out there here in Michigan, nothing but ethanol in it all........

sounds like you need the fuel screws turned out some more, I know its cold here in Ohio with LOTS of snow, lower 20's. We got 12 inchs here already and calling for up to 18 inchs from all this lake effect snow bands.

ok call me dumb but what are fuel screws and how much do i turn them and do i need to reset idle after i turn them?

Check out carb cleaning 101 with pitchers in the snowmobile tech section... Will need to do this to ensure carbs are clean,,, will have picture of fuel screw on bottom side of carb.... Stock setting is 1&1/8 turns out from lightly seated,, also in the tech section under stock yamaha spec...... Not hard to do just take your time.....
