I am trying to replace all of the tie rod ends to tighten up the play in the handle bars. I am attempting to remove the end from the rod that goes from the steering shaft to the front. I can not get the ends out! does anyone know how these are removed? are they threaded in or pressed in? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Just did this the other day. They're a tapered fit like a car.I didn't have a pickle fork small enough so I used an old pair of needle nose pliers and a hose clamp.Slip the nose of the pliers under the tie rod ball socket and tighten a hose clamp around them so they can't splay open and smack each handle of the pliers alternately.Popped out after about 5 good whacks.
Pickle Fork is the ticket - or a substitute like above works too.
If you have a Habor Freight Tool store near you the pickle fork you need is for doing tie-rods on a car and is about $7 bucks through H.F. They aren't the best of quality but will do the job for you.
