Has anyone successfully installed the newer Yamaha mono rear skid in a Viper? If so how was the process and where did you get the skid? I know that skid is around 17 lbs. lighter thean the pro-action and only requires one shock of course.........it just seems like this would be a nice upgrade to a Viper.

Yes, it is a very easy install and the skid is about 10 pounds lighter than the stock suspension. A new hole must be drill in the tunnel and the old front bracket from the pro-action suspension needs to be riveted to that new hole that you drilled. The rear bolt of the suspension stays in the same location.

Do you have the dimensions for the location of the new hole? How's the ride compared to the old No-Action?

I have them somewhere but I am not exactly sure how to reference them. I referenced mine from parallel with the tunnel over, and then up. I havent had a chance to take the sled out yet and wont be able to until about new years but just jumping on it, it feels much smoother.

The biggest CON of the Mono, in my opinion anyway, is it's poor performance on the g-outs. This can be fixed with a re-valve but it may be a non issue on the smokers seeing as there isn't any extra exhaust weight sitting out back.

By far one of Yamaha's best suspensions, especially for those 1 foot washboard sections, you'll be amazed!
