Just got this sled 2 day's ago, have had to replace a bunch of idler bearings, 1 of the tire's was wobbling on a shaft, just replaced the whole tire, rest of wheel's were good, :o| the sled has 2600 mile's on it and I paid 1200.00 for it, I am just going through everything before I take it for a ride, will clean carb's today, guy said "carb's were never cleaned"!! Are these good sled's "if" properly maintained etc? Also there is a group ride set up for the 1st weekend in feb, sat/sun in the polk cty, burnett cty area of wisc, it will start in st croix fall's wisc at the interstate info office parking lot, this is the "head" of the Willard Munger trail which will take you just about everywhere north east south and west you want to ride!! :letitsnow More info on the ride will be posted! Can't wait!!!! Thank's!! ;)! Wiscvmax700sxguy

Ive got a 98 xtc700 and I love it, they are very reliable engines if maintained. If you do a search you will probably come up with tons of threads.

I've got the same sled. Picked it up the beginning of last year and put about 2000 miles on it last season. I never had an issue with it (other than a blown belt). I have to rebuild the carbs this year, it was starting to run bad come the end of the season. It definately lacks in the suspension department but I'm not concerned about that as it rides a lot better than my phazer. Anyways, it has been a solid sled for me so far and hopefully this year will be the same.

Awsome sled ... traded mine in for a Srx....if only i could have had both..i miss it already...my sx was a dream, just pull her over and go..I long travelled the rear with an rx1 skid..definatly worth the Investment....good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of Yamaha.

A friend of mine swapped in a new skid in his 03 rx1 and I was wondering if it would be worth while to put his stock skid in my sx. I have to start doing some research on it soon, it may be worthwhile.

If you can get a good deal on that skid i would for sure its a direct replacement and a hell of a better ride. Its probably the most cost effective and easyiest option for you . you will have 11.5" travel and i do believe they came with adjustable transfer rods from factory. I drove mine for a year with out replacing the front shocks with long travel but i would have had i not sold it.

Didn't realize it was a direct replacement, and here I spent $75 on adjustable transfer rods for my stock sled. May look into seeing how much the guy wants for it. Thanks for the insight.
