Ok, today I started to reasemble the engine. In putting the reeds back together I noticed that on the boots the orange ruberized coating on the inside was bubbling. I ran my fingers accrost it and the coating started to come off. So do I need new boots? I'm worried it will continue to peel and fall into the case.

You could either replace or just scrap off as much as you can and use them,, The engine will digest that just fine....

Ok, I will work on getting it off. Other than where it's bubbled it won't come off.

somebody painted them they should be black, , use mr gasket remover and spry them it will wipe off with a rag. AL
theyre not painted. mine looked the same way the other day when i replaced my stock reeds with the carbontechs. if your engines gonna go down because of that then so is mine so is mine. lol i think they will eat that up and spit it out without any issues.
