Headed out to the Bighorns Jan 14th...... Looking for some set up advice for my long track SXR with Hauck pipes listed in my signature as it is my first time out west. Looking for some jetting, clutch, and gearing guidelines! Any advice would be outstanding!!

John, you are going to be hooked after your trip out west. But take the time to do a avlanche training class with Mike Duffy, he is easy to find on Snowest. It will be the best 40/50 bucks you will ever spend. I'm guessing after your trip out you will want to go back very soon.
With similar motor mods, I was turning a 159 2", 19/42 gearing with 9 tooth anti-ratchet drivers. I am still running the stock mm primary arms, I will have to check how many grams. I have ran hauck helixes but you could try to find a stock mm helix/ 43 straight, it will really help your shifting. Your best rear suspension mod would be to make or buy a mpi transfer kit. And if you are willing to loose a couple of idlers, it will save you some weight and let some snow clean out of the suspension. If you find your sled trenching, shorten up your front limiter straps, this will decrease your approach angle and get you on top easier. Let me know if you need anything.
by the way my brother "borrowed" your pipes. Knock on wood I haven't needed them yet. Good luck out west. Are you staying on the mountain or town? Jerid

The transfer mod does not apply to my sled as I run a sc10-3 skidoo suspension! The way this skid is mounted in the tunnel has a terrible aproach angle, like old style mountain max terrible! I have been playing around with some shock relocation brackets up front to gain some clearance, but fnding out that this playing around up front does not let my rear suspension lay flat enough on the garage floor. It seems that the front of the skid would need to come down lower out of the tunnel to flatten everything out.... But that in turn makes the aproach angle even uglier! Like to maybe move the skid back some but woulb have to shorten the extensions to do so! Any ideas out there??

Throw up some pics. I'm full of ideas when it comes to hacking MN sleds into crossover/mtn usable sleds

Bear Lodge (right at the lodge is 8300) we'd usually jet them for about 6500ft+ to be on the safe side. Very fun place to ride, but it's early in the season still so watch for rocks.

If the bighorns are getting snow like west/tog, I wouldnt take anything less than a 153. Tog has epic snow right now, my stuckfest is in 3 weeks
