NOW BEFORE YOU READ THIS, PLEASE UNDERSTAND EVERY MOTOR IS DEFFERENT. CONDITIONS ARE DEFFERENT, DRIVER WEIGHT IS DEFFERENT, THE AIR THAT DAY IS DEFFERENT ALONG WITH ELEVATION. WHAT WORKED HERE FOR ME MIGHT BE OFF FOR OTHERS.
2002 SRX 700- 1295 MILES ON THIS MACHINE. MOTOR NEVER BEEN APART. HAS MY NYS INSURANCE CARD UNDER MY SEAT FOR NY TRAILS.
OK : THAT DAY ICE/ GRANULAR CONDITIONS
1. 8BU-10 WEIGHTS (roughly 55 grams)
2. LOADED WITH 4.5
3. MAXXIMUM PERFORMANCE PURPLE TALL COVER SRX SPRING
pre-load-62.5
total- force - 120
4. ENGAGEMENT AROUND 5000
5. STOCK ROLLERS
THATS MY PRIMARY SET-UP
1. STOCK SRX RED SPRING
2. I TRYED TWIST @ 80-90-100 (tune for yourself here )
3. HELIX NOW IS A BENDER 49-37, BUT I TRYED 50-40, 51-38, 51-36 (spliting hairs here )

EXRA WHEELS ADDED TO SKID
STOCK JETTING
CARB VENTS UP TO AIR BOX.

Great info! Gonna try my brand new 8bu-10's soon as the new
pistons are braked in. Just need a primary spring wiyh more preload i guess?
Only got a 51/43 hauck and stock helix to play with. Thanks for sharing!

i just wonder tony how your getting 5000 engagement. i've never seen over 4500.

At the risk of picking nits, I'd guess that Lake Ontario is at least 400-600 ft. above sea level. Lake Erie is about 700 ft. above.

tonight, 8bu-10's loaded 53g roughly, w/hauck orange primary spring--55/136, and 2 engagement shims, i only get 4250/4300 engagement.

What shift rpm did you get with that setup? And how is the backshift?
Anyone know where to buy a spring with about 60 preload?

Tony... I put a Hauck Orange primary spring on mine and it will engage at about 4900... The stock YWY will engage at 43-4400. w/ out engagment shims in at almost 5000.
Where do you see a HP drop on dyno after RPM. 8350? Everyone always is saying they want 8500 i have been told 8350 is your max HP Peek RPM .
Also i use 8bu-00 weights... 3.6 in tip and 4.3 in center... LOL need to get a little more into the tip. The 4.3 is from nut and bolt from the hauck X-weights. I had 5 in center before and it would only hit about 8100 RPM so i tood out about .7 And i use a green sec w/ 70 degree twist.. Really pulls.. But i hit 4900 engagment w/ that. O ya straight 45 helix... hauck X weights seem to pull the same MPH but the 8BU 00 seems to have faster times....... (little funner)

CAN,T TALK DYNO STUFF HERE BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND EVERY MOTOR IS DEFFERENT. FROM MY SLED, 8350 WOULD BE FINE, BUT YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TO BUILD HP AND TORQUE. SEE AS LONG AS RPM/ HP NUMBER DON,T DROP, YOU MIGHT HAVE A MOTOR THAT WILL BUILD POWER FROM 8350/ 8600. THIS IS PERFECT BECAUSE ITS EASY TO CLUTCH. 3:16 (yammie tony)

'98-'99 srx make peak hp @ 8300 rpm and '00-'02 srx make peak hp @ 8500. Peak tq is made @ approx 200-300 rpms below peak hp rpm.
