I m new to this yamaha stuff,, I purchased a 98 srx 700 , no problem there. But I bought an extra primary clutch off ebay, nice clutch, after doing some reading, they say that all of the srx s had the tall cover clutchs. This clutch I bought they said came off a 98 srx, I pulled the cover and it says 8BV00 which it s my understanding is a short cover.. Am I looking at this wrong or is there a differant way to tell these apart, if this is a short cover can you put the tall cover on this clutch so you can use the longer springs for tuning..

yes, you can put the tall cover on a short cover clutch. The part is about $75 and the bushing for the cover is about $25. ANY 99+ yamaha SRX, Viper, RX1, SXR and SX has the tall cover.
ok that tells me that I was misinformed that all srx s had the tall clutch. thanks
The SRXs were the first to get the tall cover in 98...the other models followed in 99 + up.
