2000 SRX 700.Has a cold air kit and stock 2000 spec jetting but plugs are still very dark.Bought the sled with 152.5,150,150 jets and I don't know how the guy rode it.Would not run at all in temps over -5C.Jetted it down in a couple steps to where I am now.I rode this past Friday in -20C at about 500ft above sea level and did the plug check on the fireguard.Still dark chocolate as opposed to cardboard color.Hesitate to go down more but I know it wants it.Anybody else jetted down with a cold air kit?
It would be odd that your sled is running rich at -20c with 2000 stock jetting [which was already lean] and a cold air kit! I think it would be prudent to do some investigating before you rejet again.
Some things to check:
-spark plug cap resistance[if spark is weak it will have trouble burning all the fuel]
-reeds[if reeds are broken or worn can cause mixture/running issues]
-float levels[high float level can cause rich condition]
-leaking float needle + seat[same issues as high float level]
-stuck or leaking choke/enrichment valve
-incorrect needle setting
-plugged exhaust
-weak stator output
-low compression
If you do find something wrong, for a safer starting point, I would suggest you go back to the richer jetting the sled has when you aquired it.

Some other things to check:
-check that the needle jets are still the stock Q-6
-pilots are stock

X2, Sounds like other problems. A cold air kit should make it breath easier & require larger jets if anything. What plugs are you using? Start with 3 new ones to eliminate that possibility.

Just rebuilt the motor and double checked everthing while it was apart.Reeds are good, choke is set correctly, balance of jetting in carb is stock and clean, compression is 115psi across the board(may not be fully broken in yet).It runs great and doesn't foul plugs but is dark.I'm going to check the oil cable to make sure it isn't over oiling and go through the ignition components as suggested and then just ride the damn thing.Spent way too much time wrenching on this buggy in the past year.
