tunnel protectors

Hi, new here just bought my first snowmobile, a2002 venture 700 with 149mi.Was stored for the last 7 yrs pulled out every year and started up but not registered.
Here my question I'm studding my track and want to install tunnel protectors that I have for it, they give you pop rivets so you have to drill holes in protector ok, seems as ther are already holes in tunnel you would have to drill into bottom of seat maby thats why the rivets have a 7/8 grip range,whats the little washer for? What do you do under the gas tank area? How could you drill in front of the gas tank area without taking off the track? Hopfully someone has already installed one of these sets.

Rivets install from top of tunnel. The little washer goes on the end of the rivet for more Holding power. You need to take seat off and tank out to rivet the protectors on. CCC
