Going to top end the 700... As I run synthetic oil and cannot break it in on synthetic, what have you guys done?? My ideas are....
1.) drain whole system of synthetic and replace with conventional oil for break in
OR
2.) premix some gas and just disable oil pump cable to avoid the hassle of draining and repriming oil system during break in.....
Will this do any kind of harm to my oil pump by doing this?? It was just an idea, let me know what u guys think

I would put a jug down and run a oil/fuel line into it from the bottom of the res and let it drain so door 1

All you guys and doing all this to break it in......
I did to engines last year running amsoil.....
got rid of all the yamalube and replaced it with amsoil....removed oil tank cleaned out old oil. cleaned all the lines out....filled up with amsoil...broke in the engines...
I did the whole thing with amsoil interceptor oil..
both sleds ran great with no problems......
1. pull the oil cable tight
2. start it up idle to 1/2 throttle
3. let cool down completely
4. start it up run 1/2 to full
5. let cool down completely
6. release oil cable
7. take it out and run it as normal......
very easy 7 steps and you be fine.....

You removed the oil tank and blew all the lines out and never blead the oil pump?Or forgot to mention that? Both brands are compadable so all is needed is to remove the syn and top it up good old yamylube if this is what he wants to do.

I understand all of this....It just gets old seeing and hearing you can't break rings in on full synthetic......
I just hate the myths out there.....
Just trying to help like you are.....

I also think that not using synthetic oil during breakin is hogwash. I am a dealer technician and all of your highend cars (corvette, bmw, ect, ect) come FACTORY FILLED with synthetic oil. If customers are having tailpipe smoking problems on the new cx-7 there is a tsb to change the oil also using 5w40 Mobil 1. I rebuild chainsaws and always premix w/synthetic oil. NO problems.
For what its worth-----When i did my 700sx I called Klotz since they are local and they said to not use there oil for break-in period......

my $.02.......
start it..... at idle, let it warm up to operating temp.... at idle!!!!!.... shut it down and let it cool completely!!!!!
Now all your gaskets are sealed........RIDE IT LIKE IT'S STOLEN!!!!
I have read and believe that rapeing a motor when it is fresh creates more pressure on the rings and seats them better!!! if you think about it.... synthetic oil or not..... the pressure is what seats the rings!!!!!
WOT!!!!! it's always the most fun!!!!!!

Synthentic oils do not prevent or greatly extend break-in time. They do reduce or eliminate the damage that might take place between mismatched parts. Those bits and pieces that protrude still wear in but they do it more gently with the extra protection afforded by synthetic oils.

I broke in my 700 with amsoil last winter with no problems whatsoever! The rings seated right away and it runs very strong since the rebuild.I asked Mr. Viper this very question and he said the synthetic would be fine.

after a ring job, is it wise to run a tank of premix through it, in addition to the oil in the sled already- like when it was new?
