Those XC 800's are not the best runners IMHO. I have beaten handfuls of them over the years with my stock Viper. Polaris has been in a tailspin with their motors for awhile. Look at their current 800, it is down 15-20 HP compared to Cat and Doo's current 800's. Now they send production to Mexico........geez

the edge 800's make really good horsepower and can be fast. their clutching is terrible out of the box. polaris 600's run with them. when i had my polaris 800 i did extensive clutching with it, and it would run right with my srx all day long. only about 1-2 mph difference in top speeds via GPS, which is about right, considering the 800 is 140ish HP and lighter than the SRX.
if your buddys is stock, just about any sled will beat it...

my srx is a 700. but I could really help your buddy on his 800 to make it FLY, your 600 wouldn't hold a candle to it then....

My dads twin brother had a 2002 Edge 800 and it had everything he could do to the clutching and both our Vipers killed it. He had an inside factory contact from Polaris so his Polaris's were always the fastest ones around the area. They were sending him all sorts of setups and nothing worked. He sold the sled in mint condition with only around 4-500 miles on it he was so frustrated. Are you sure your SRX is running right? I have never seen a XC800 run with a properly tuned 2000 to 2002 SRX.
Plus I know some people within Hot Seat/ Speedwerx that are good friends with the Houles. They spent half a winter trying to dial in setup for that engine. They actually found a flaw in the design of the pistons that had an effect with the transfer ports and designed a different piston with Wiseco. I also met a former Polaris engineer up in Michigan at the Fisherman's lodge that had went over to Arctic Cat helping with the clutching for the new F7 at the time. He confirmed that the 800 was...as he called it "an unhappy motor". He claimed the 700 XC was a much better engine than the 800.

Yeah I'm sure my srx is running right, I pull 109 on gps all day long in 30 degree temps when I was testing. My 800 ran 113 mph on gps with clutching and jetting work. Took a really good running sled to outrun it. Have had 2 different ones and both were fast with identical set ups.

You must have an incredible XC800......a one of a kind one in fact. Then you got another one to do the same? Sorry but I smell BS. I've been around this game too long. If that was so easy to accomplish those 800's would have been dominating all sorts of races. Guess what, they never did.
Spinner, I am not trying to be crass but I see you are much younger than me. You have to admit your knowledge on the SRX is in the learning stage too. I checked all your previous posts. I have been riding , racing and wrenching on sleds for longer than you have been alive. (yeah I am old) I do not doubt you can make an XC800 run better than they came......but it takes more than clutching.
Peace!!

Uh oh, do I smell a race. We have never had good liuck with the 800's either, I had an 02 700 and it would beat the 800 everyday, plus dependable as a yammie. Polaris has not had a good running 800 in quite sometime, maybe back to the triple days.

I agree that the last descent 800 Polaris had was the Fuji built 800XCR tripple...we won't even talk about their venture into the 900cc "Con Fusion" engines!!!

..........and those needed tuning out of the crate too. Box stock the SRX's, Mach Z's and ZRT's would out accelerate them.
