changing idler wheels

So, I have 1 or 2 wheels that delaminated last season on my proaction venture 600. These were all original raw aluminum wheels with the rubber outside, and after all these years, a couple wheels have gone too far.

I have seen some folks use polaris 5.3" wheels to replace the slightly smaller yamaha ones. I guess the slightly bigger wheels help with hifax wear. Is it really as simple as taking a bushing from the old idler and putting it in the new polaris idler wheels?

yes but if you change one or two you should change them all!!! they are different size!!! (poolaris and Yamaha)

the bushing has an inside and outside half, if you look through the hole in the center of the wheel you can see the seam. there is a larger flange on the snapring side bushing..... you'll see what I mean when you get them off, it's pretty hard to mess them up!!!

If your going to replace all of the small wheels "snoway" has a bunch of left over wheels with bearings he got stuck with from a group buy he is selling at a very good price!!!

This year I had one of my center wheels on the rear axle brg fall apart. I was amazed I did not see this last year on our last ride. No big deal as I already had the 4th wheel kit installed. Odd from Yamaha the center wheels, which are just black cost more than the outer wheels which are silver??????????? Any whay I know have two outer blue wheels and two inner silver wheels. Al

I have one of the aluminum wheels you need, its in descent shape..... you can have it for the price of shipping!!! I dont have anything it will match..... it came on some parts I got from another member, It needs a bearing or a cleaning and repacking at least!!!

Hmm, I might take you up on that, but I think I will simply buy 2 new wheels with bearings in the stock size. I always end up gouging my self messing around with removing snap rings. Maybe i just need a better pair of snap rin pliers?

Dennis Kirk has them for 23 dollars each in black with the stock size. The only thing that bothers me is that DK says they are only for outer use, not inner use. or something like that. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there no difference between ones mounted in between the rails and ones on the outsides??
 
Bump, but I have to believe the inner and outer wheels have no real differences.

I have ordered 2 of the new ones from DK.
 
let me know if you find out the difference!!!

I take all the wheels off, clean and repack the bearings and reinstall them in no specific order......

must be a disclaimer to help their warranty policy or something!!!
