LIFE MEMBER ONLY ONCE!!!
Well yesterday I re-installed 3 good PV's and did the adjustment with 3mm this time.Put my spare servo motor in just to see and it works.Went back stock primary for now..4.5 inner/outer,stock spring...2ndary stock 47.She is really snappy today at -17 C.Really opens up good and no bog at all.Snow is loose yet, from launch goes 8500,drops to 8200ish and slowly climbs. Not to many places to open her up yet without killing myself.Almost went off the sled when I hit a bunch of mogols at 80.Got to 90 on the speedo really quick,so she is pulling good.Only have 144 miles on this rebuilt motor so far.I will continue to run this setup until I burn another tank of gas and then switch to a 54/44 helix with silver spring at 60 to see if she does any better.Still not ideal conditions out here for riding to do any wot runs. The winds have placed drifts in many areas we run and simply cannot run her quick on that stuff. All is good at bluemonster1's house again. After a bit more riding,I will bring sled into the garage and later check the PV's to see if they are trying to pullthru or not.
later...

some scary riding to.Lucky I wasn't going to fast along the Park fence where a lot of guys fly by.There is a little drainage with rocks on top exposed.I hit the area and bang, pieces flying up,fragments into my visor even.I new I hit a rock bed .Going back and stopped.I nailed a stone that was about 12" X 10" X 3"" thick. My ski basically pushed it ahead like about 50 feet when I hit it.No damage to my ski,but a lot of banging sounds when I hit that area. Now I know where it is,next time I will crawl over it slowly. We need more snow!!!

Wow this sleds rocks now.Put on 50 miles today and it is issue free.Really pulls, rpm's spot on to.No DCS light whatsoever.Running in -22 windchills also. And she handles just like on rails on all the corners I came onto at 70 -80 mph.I knew earlier that when I nailed that rock that something had to be injured..Put sled in garage now and spotted it.Man the inside of the left ski got torn back about 6 inches.Guess I'll trim it down smooth and carry on..what more can I do.Look at the pics of the damage..at least it only was the ski.,no engine issues..... ![Thumbs Up ;)! ;)!](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/div20.gif)
PS: lucky that rock wasn't stationary...lol..or ski would still be sitting on the side somewere or trailing arm bent....

time for a set of aftermarket, these stock skis on these are garbage!
also, sometimes it is hard to beat a stock set-up. I am going to compare what I left off with last year to a stock set-up this year on the GPS. Will do the runs about 10 min apart from eachother as same location just to see. I have 8 different helix/spring combos I would like to try out, I have a stock early 2000 xcr 800 i need to outrun on the lake.
i'm really curious to see how fast a bone stock clutched srx is, compared to different set-ups recommended on here using stock weights leaded with 4.5 in the holes. if we're talking 1-3 mph with sacrificing alot of backshift and throttle response, i'd rather keep it stock, but I suppose I will find out soon enough

I remember a few seasons ago with stock primary, but with a 51/43 helix/green spring on a warm April day..like +7 C,I did 7 long runs on the river, was mostly ice at that time and I had no studs.I hit 118 consistantly on the speedo and it came up there fast to..so go figure. On warmer days that helix worked great for me,so not selling mine.
I still will try the 54/44 helix and the 8BU-10's with 50/40 helix to see if sled runs any quicker,if it doesn't make much of a difference,I will sell all my misc. clutch parts and stay stock and ride,ride,ride.....no more wrenching..it is getting tiring for me.Got few guys to run with and just wanna ride and have fun.Speed is not everything, but a well tuned sled with no issues is golden.I think my wrenching days are over, just want reliable sleds to ride.Regular maintenance is a must and just keep the Yamaha's alive for a few more years.

put on some 77 miles today, tried the 54/44 helix again, silver at 60..not working for me.I feel a slight holding back at launch..then she goes and then only hits 79-8000 max wot.Helix is to steep I guess.Hit 90 with it and rpm's not climbing.Put back the 47,red at 70 and very snappy again all the way..hit 95 on same spot on the river this time before corner was coming up.Thank God for the studs on the track and dual carbides up front or I would of been up the River bank, otherwise hugged the corner like it was on rails at 70....
RPM's at 8500,would like a tad lower and work it to 8500.Probably should go 80 wrap with the Red spring next time. The River was great today, went up some 15 to 20 miles out on it..smooth with an inch or 2 of snow cover on the ice.

tried them a little a while back and got worst rpm's wot.Probably will have lower rivet weight to get her to respond, but don't know much how yet.I have them with 4.5 in both holes.

blue, if you put the secondary spring at a tighter wrap, your top end RPM's will increase, so I wouldn't go from 70-80 wrap. if she's right at 8500 when you pin it and it stays there, that is exactly what you want. when the clutch hits 8500, backs off to 8200, then climbs to 8500, your just losing HP theoretically, as the max hp is 8500, and keeping it there is the key!
