I just picked up a 79 Enticer 250 in November and got screwing with it and can NOT get it to run right. It was running OK with the choke on but only idled with the choke off. Turns out the main jet was plugged. Unplugged it and still same problem so I started screwing with the idle. Still no difference so I tried to set the fuel level and now it's flooded. I am gonna screw with it more tomorrow but anyway.. I already bought a 34mm Mikuni (it's actually a vintage MIC) and I'm gonna convert over. I'm trying to plan the jetting out.. I dug up a few old threads and have seen 60 and 50 for pilot jet sizes. I talked to my 'consultant' and he said he's never even heard of anything over 45 for pilot size. I know it's going to be different at temperature and altitude but I was wondering if you guys have any input on pilot jetting.. Otherwise I think I am set. I just need a flange, throttle cable, and choke and I'm good to bolt this thing on and start tuning...

PS this is my first post here.. Looks like there is a lot to be learned from the digging I did

Alright that damn keihin flooded my motor.. I poured out 13oz of fuel into a mason jar and the rest came out the exhaust and pulse line.. Took the keihin apart and the diaphragm looks good. The only thing that looked like it might be a problem is the fuel inlet needle looks like it was sticking a little. I dunno if I wanna try it again I don't want to waste that much gas!! haha

I've got the mikuni carb all I need is the choke, a throttle cable, and flange. If you guys want I can get some pictures of step-by-step how to swap but it's pretty easy.. The hard part is gonna be tuning the MIC but I'll have help with that from my FIL.

I'm running 50 on my pilot on the ET250 (with Mikuni) here in AB Canada - I think 'igottajob' is running the same and he's in Minneapolis if I recall - I'm pretty high up altitude wise. I have a few sizes on hand just in case.....ripped the ditches today and had no issues-its all an experiment....my main is 220 here, but I've heard of guys down east running 280.....

Thanks.. It looks like I better get a hold of a few. I am at ~700ft above sea level so I may need to run a bigger pilot. Like I said my 'mentor' said he's never seen anything bigger than 45.

I just did this and I used a 220 main and 50 pilot and it runs great. Ran a new pulse line. I mounted the fuel pump to the frame to the right of the fuel tank and ran the pulse line to it. I got a flange from Dennis Kirk that mounts to the curved mount of the old carb so it doesn't hit the secondary clutch. I can get you item numbers if you want.
