my clutch on my 98 srx 700 is badly cracked.....so i tracked down and bought a used clutch...apparently its off a 600 srx....now looking at the 700 clutch the internals are not stock and the 600 is absoulutely not stock was about to take them appart and swap the internals from the 700 into the 600... thought i would take some pics and post before hand to see if i could get some input before i started wrenching but i cant seem to figure out how to post pics.any help on this would be most appreciated.

Pictures of my clutch can be found by following this link, thanks for your help.

what do you want to know?? loosen the 6 bolts that hold the cover on equally till they are almost out then take one out of each tower completly. Next hold the clutch cover straight with your hand so you don't wreck the center bushing or if you don't think you can do it and take the remaining bolts out yourself have a friend help you. There is some pressure on the cover but not alot. Once the cover is off then the rest is easy the spring will come right out and you can get the wieghts out easy. If it has been along time since the clutch has been serviced it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get a new primary spring. It should be identified by having 3 dots on a black spring if it is a Yamaha spring. Example would be black spring with a green-white-green dot pattern on it. If it isn't yamaha stock you will have to find out what kinda spring it is to get the correct spring for the setup that is in it. This also would be a good time to take the secondary apart and inspect it if it hasn't been done in awhile. probably replace that spring and the buttons as well.

The one I the right looks like it has a has a hauck overdrive sheave on it maybe even a complete clutch kit. I would try the 600 clutch the way it is and if you dont like it switch all the parts over from the 700.

I would do that but the bushings in the arms on both clutches are so worn that there hitting sides and the weights are mostly ground away on the hcs. The other arms, on the 600 clutch, are 8ch wieghted with 1/4 20 nuts and bolts and a really weak green spring(short) the other i would believe is a hc red(Tall)spring not sure if the red cover 911? will take a tall spring

What about some engagement shims under the green spring, and getting a bushing kit to rebuild the clutches. The tall spring will not work with the red cover.

thats the direction I was leaning but i have no idea what the green spring
is but its very weak compared the tall red spring...the rivets on the hc's if they are in fact hc's are so worn they need to be replaced none wieght the same or show no wear so finding out how much they wieght will difficult...was thinking about just putting inTurks 89a set up and go from there

Hey guys I just tore down my secondary now was going to install 51/43 rx-1 helix....but i find out I've got a msr8 helix with a black spring at 3and3 now im really confused on what arms and weights and spring to buy to put into this thing seems some one spent some time on clutching this sled in the past

I would find some 89a10's, y/w/y primary spring, red secondary spring, and some .8g rivets and like some 3.1g rivets. That red cover is a hi-tech 911 cover. It will work w/OEM springs and should work w/heel clicker springs. I would ditch those heel clickers and the other weights, as they sound to need some attention. I have a red spring for your secondary and the y/w/y for the primary. The 89a10's are '93-'94 vmax4 weight. W/those 89a10 weights, I would use that stock rx1 helix you have.

thanks so much for the info.... how should I load up the arms 3.1 in the tip and .8 in the 1 hole... what wrap on the secondary... Im going to Port Yamaha today Ill try and get all the parts there...if not ill message you about the springs
oh and what about the overdrive sheave i dont have the tools to take of the spider...

parts came in...i loaded up the 89a-10 arms .8 tip 3.1 ywy spring sec 51/43 red spr.at 70 clutches are cleaned and put back together on my way to the garage now wish me luck. ;)!
