Having problems with my 02 viper not starting at times and when it does start it feels like its only running on 1 cylinder. after a while it starts to run mint like nothing was wrong with it. I've had it out a couple times this year with no problems. just started happening today.

Ya, alot of things to do for a problem like that.... carbs, check spark plugs, etc.
Do the basic things, and let us know what you have done/ what you find.

Have not cleaned the carbs. i just bought it this year and was told they were done last year. It has ran great the last 2 rides but started acting this way today. Just seems weird that it all of a sudden starts running perfect with pleanty of power and has no problem until you shut it off and try to restart it after it sits 30mins to a hr

Plugged pilots!! It will run good on the mains at WFO, but your problems sound like Pilot problems. Carbs need to be cleaned every year with todays gas. If i sit for more that 2-3 weeks due to work or what not i take 30 min and clean the carbs. Better than a burn down. CCC
CLEAN THE CARBS!!!
for sure..... at the start of every season!!!!

You have to clean them every year
It's a Viper, they had problems with the fuel pump freezing up. Does exactly what your describing. You need to put some spacers under the pump and put silicone over the small hole on the bottom of the pump. I believe there is something in the tech pages about it too.

Thank you for the info. This sounds like what my problem is. Was riding in some deep snow and some slush on the ice yesterday. Its been pretty cold here too
No problem, let us know what you figure out.

Shimmed the fuel pump as instructed in the directions. No problems so far today.Rode 100 miles and stopped 3 different times and started fine so far.
Glad it worked for you.

And if you have to in a pinch - Lift the hood and piss on the fuel pump. Thaws it out quickly and your off and running.

Thats a great idea. was ready to piss on it when it almost left me stranded. Good thing I was at the bar if it wouldn"t have started

Lack of fuel = lean condition = burn down
