It runs absolutely fine on hard snow but as soon as I hit a hill with a lot of deep snow it starts to hesitate and almost dies on me. It seems that there might be a problem with the secondary variator that makes it drop down in gear making the engine revs drop and forces the engine to bogg down and foul the plugs. Afterwards the engine hesitates for a minute, but will be fine again until I repeat the process.

I have the original 38VB70 helix delivered here in Norway and otherwise stock variator setup.

My SRX is also hard to get started when cold (4 pulls) Fine when warm.

I have tried now for 5 years to get this fixed and wonder if anyone have any suggestions to what might be the problem, and what I can to do fix it?

Things I have tried/done:
- changed crank seals
- many different plugs
- new original reeds valves
- cleaned and adjusted exhaust valves
- cleaned and checked carburetors
- new fuel pump
- measured the coils

does the sled bog when it is on its right side, or when the sled has snow up to the belly pan? If so the snow is forcing exhaust gas back under the hood, which goes right into the motor. Mtn Max sleds come with a exhaust deflector, but if I remember correct itdidnt fit the srx belly pan very well. I dont know if the mtn viper or mtn srx have exhaust deflectors tha would work better, but another option is to eliminate any under hood intake that can get to the air box. On the sx chassis there are 2 intakes under thegauge pod in the hood that once taped off solve the problem.

Does the motor sound bad when it does it? Does it only happen in deep snow? Mine does the same thing, but as soon as you get out of the deep snow it's fine. Only happens when I slow down. If I keep good momentum it is fine.
