My factory hand and thumb warmers stopped working quite a while ago on my '01 SXR . i don't have e-start on it, so no battery, or fuse that I could find. Any common problem I should look for? Both hands, and thumb just suddenly weren't working anymore, and now that I installed a low w/shield my hands get cold.
Check all the connection under the handlebar pad, not sure about the thumb, but usually when one warmer goes the other one wont work either. That doesn't mean both are bad tought.

get a tester and try to trace backwards to elimunate 1 thing at a time.Maybe a broken wire somewhere.Check the switch itself.Maybe there is a way you can get a battery and try to jump the wires to get battery to send power direct..then see it they still work or not..

did you try to turn the knob half way of 3/4...
Sometimes the dial goes bad when you want it on full...try turning the dial back alittle and see if that helps...
Also do what the other guys are saying....

I tried the partial dial, and it doesn't work. Have to check under the bar pad some day. I'm real busy with other people's sleds, and don't have time to ohm all my wiring, that's why I asked for any common problems. I have bar risers on it, so maybe something came loose.

Yep. You may have disconnected one of the connectors. Unzip the pad and check. Looking for blacks wires with "bullet" connectors.Easy fix maybe
Had the same problem with mine and it ended up being a rub-through on the wiring harness where it ran along the bars that the cowling is mounted to. I fixed the wires and re-routed them so they no longer rub on the sharp bends.

warmers are wired in series so if one is bad, neither work, simply hook up each side at a time and see which one is bad.
On our trip this weekend, I suddenly realized my hand warmers weren't working also. I ran and tried adjusting the control but to no avail. I stopped at an intersection, unzipped the pad, checked all of the connection. Then I suddenly realized, boy did I feel stuped, The key was in the wrong position. Sometimes the easiest items take the longest to find. Turn the key to, warmer, and woola, hot hands again. good luck Al
