This is the story I tried starting my viper about 3 weeks ago and it wouldn't stay running So I cleaned the carbs then I tried to start it again I noticed a bunch of fuel on the floor of the garage so I cleaned the carbs again and then the same thing. I then did a comp test and found on of the cyl was real low comp. I then checked the spark on that cyl and it was fine. So I went and removed the pipes to pull the cyl. When I did I found that pipe full of fuel. So I procedded to install new rings. everything looked good. I just got done and started it again and again fuel poured on the floor of the garage. I looked under the sled and the fuel was coming from the bottom of the heat exchanger. On that same cyl on the clutch sides pipe did not get warm like the others. I checked the fuel pump and lines and they are dry and cannot see where this fuel is coming from. Any help or thoughts would be great I am at a loss.

try checking your fuel drainage screws on the bottom of the float bowl.Maybe you forgot to tigten one of them....or maybe you didn;t tighten one off the bowls enough or the gasket is torn somewhere.Could even be a crack in the gas line going to the carb inlet, but may be covered by the hose clamp and not noticable.Got to be something simple.

does it only happen with motor not running or running. If when not running, then there is for sure a simple explanation for it..something is loose and need tightening or cracked hose somewhere.

only when running i think it may be the float sticking? I have the overflow lines disc from air box on it. I'm trying to get the pin out that holds the float in any ideas to remove this?

a sharp tap outward, watch don't tap to hard..just enough to get that pin to release and slide out.Use a nail punch or something similar..but be carefull.

I cleaned the float needle up it did seem to be sticking but it seems good now and r/i it. I started it back up and the fuel is not leaking from the bottom of the sled anymore but still didn't run right that cyl still isn't firing. So I removed the pipe and it's fillid with fuel again.

Could the gas have ran into the case? and what wold this do? The pipes angle would have it run back towoards the motor

don't light a match around them pipes or get a spark going ..or else.Cylinder must not be firing since fuel has past thru to exhaust.Better hope for no backfire when pipe is full or else grenade effect.

make sure base is not full of gas! pull pipe off, shut gas off, pull plug and row it over to see, gas will shoot out plug hole.sounds like maybe the needle and seat needs to be replaced. might want to take float from that carb off and shake it to see if it has gas in it.only seen a few fill but it will cause the needle from seating and cause flooding.

Ensure that the plug wire doesn't ground somewhere and create a spark, which inturn causes a BLAST FURNACE affect from the combustion chamber. Happend to me on a chainsaw. Had to replace all the fuel lines after I got the fire out. And that is small M/Fin fuel line.

I've got it running now but won't idle. I have to keep the choke on some to keep it running

might be sucking air in thru somewhere....Watch you don't burn down the engine. You'll have to go thru everything with a fine tooth comb..check and tripple check everything. The carbs is a good place to start,fittings..boots,fuel pump, gas lines, even a plugged up gas in line filter. Can't over look anything...plugs,wires,compression,etc
