hi there i have a 1976 GP440, when i purchased i noticed the headlight and taillight do not work, i havent had a lot of time to check it out, the headlight and tail light bulb both look good. does anyone have any ideas tips or tricks on how to figure it out easily, also are there any tests possible, the guy i bought it from took the connectors by the motor off and twisted the wires together and siliconed them which makes it very hard to do a test on coils, all the connections seem to be good and connected from what i can see, if anyone has any ideas its greatly appreciated. i was also thinking possibly the voltage regulator???? is it possible for that to be bad and if so would the keep the lights from working????? Thanks Dillon
if the voltage regulator went it would have blew the bulbs i would see if u have power at the switch if not start traceing the wires till u find somthing

......stator has a black ground,,,,green brake light coil to brake light switch
yellow runs all lights......travels to key switch and leaves as light blue...which
fastens to beam switch, speedo , tail light. and tee's to volt reg....
volt reg takes off the excess volts and sends them to ground...under seat
behind fuel tank and normally look corroded and mice have eaten the lead in
wire (nesting spot) and ground will be rusty.
the orange wire runs lh coil and gray runs rh coil......switch joins orange
and gray to shut off ignition
...you can test your bulbs with a 12 volt battery

ps ...email me a fax # some time and I can send a pic of wiring

dillon ...send me an email and I will send you a pic of wiring....
just typed a long message and internet ate it...LOL
yellow from stator to main switch and then everything
becomes light blue for lights....brake light is green and sep. coil.
CHECK and fix all grounds and check reg under the seat...
Normally a nest and corrosion
