700 sx gearing

what are the`stock gears on a 97 700 sx?? I bought one set up with hauck pipes and it is slower on top (@9100 rpm) as my stocker was @8400. I havent opened the chaincase yet but I would bet this sled has been geared down.

any advise regarding optimal gearing for trail riding and lake running???

stock gearing would have been 23/40. pretty sure the haucks were designed to spin a bit higher than the 8300 stock.
